Italian Digital Terrestrial in your channel lists
The list you generate can now include digital terrestrial channels, not just satellite ones. Pick your town and the generator writes into the file the multiplexes actually receivable in that area, with the correct frequencies and the Italian LCN numbering.
How it works
Terrestrial is not like satellite: frequencies change from area to area, because every transmitter site uses different RF channels. That is why we need to know where you are.
Pick your area
The editor panel has three cascading selectors: region, province and town. 2,392 Italian towns are covered.
We build your local muxes
For the chosen town we know which multiplexes are receivable and on which RF channel. From there we derive frequency, bandwidth, modulation type and the channel list with its numbering.
Load the file on your decoder
The generated file contains both satellite and terrestrial. The decoder keeps them apart as two separate sources: the two lists never interfere.
Supported decoders
Terrestrial support is not identical across decoders, because the two formats have different needs.
V8 UHD, V8X, X8, V9 Prime, V7 PRO, Freesat V8 Ultra. These decoders do not read the mux PMT table: they need audio and video PIDs already written in the file. We get them from real scans sent in by users, so coverage grows over time.
All Enigma2 receivers. Here the PIDs are read by the receiver when tuning, so no scan is needed: coverage is complete everywhere from the start.
The percentage in the table below applies only to the SDX family. If you use an Enigma2 receiver you can ignore it: your local channels will all be there anyway.
Channel order on ALi decoders
On decoders with an ALi SoC — the whole GTMedia and Freesat family — Rete 4, Canale 5 and Italia 1 may not appear right after Rai 3, but much further down, near the end of the list.
This is not a fault in the list: the numbering is correct, and pressing 4, 5 or 6 on the remote takes you to the right channel. It is the decoder firmware sorting channels by their position in the mux rather than by number, and we cannot change that from the file.
- Open the decoder menu and go to Edit Channel.
- Scroll down until you find Rete 4, Canale 5 and Italia 1 at the bottom of the list.
- Select them and use the Move function to place them right below Rai 3.
- Save and exit. The change is stored in the decoder.
After moving them the three channels keep the numbers 4, 5 and 6: the decoder only changes their position in the list, not their numbering.
Coverage by location
Town by town, how many channels we can already write into the file compared with those listed for the multiplexes receivable in that area.
The count includes repeats, that is channels broadcast on several numbers (Rete 4 on 4, 104 and 504): the ratio is correct, but the absolute figures are higher than the channels you will actually see in the list.
